Enjoy the Ride – Don’t Wait Only for the Destination

Many people live life on pause—waiting to “get there.”
They say:
When I lose weight
When I get married
When I finish my course
When I buy my car
When I get a new house
When I have children
When the children grow up
The list never ends.
But postponing joy until you reach a milestone robs you of the beauty and purpose found in the process. Life is not meant to be lived only at the finish line.
Even Jesus, though He came to save mankind, embraced the journey on His way to the cross. He enjoyed family life, attended the synagogue, taught the crowds, raised disciples, healed the sick, shared meals with friends, delivered the oppressed, and revealed the Father’s heart daily. His purpose was the cross, but His journey was filled with meaning, impact, and joy. And even now, He continues His work as our High Priest.
There is purpose in the process. A wise man once said, “Fall in love with the process.” The destination becomes meaningful because of the journey that shaped you.
So, learn to enjoy the journey.
Laugh with your friends at school.
Embrace the revision periods.
Delight in your children while they are young—those years truly pass quickly.
Build beautiful memories.
Treasure the mundane rhythms of the day.
Life is not built on grand events alone but on the tiny, unplanned moments—seconds in the shop, minutes at the gym, conversations in traffic. These ordinary moments become extraordinary when we value them as part of God’s shaping process.
Enjoy the process.
Make the most of the journey.
It is all part of your destiny.
Scripture Meditation
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
Psalm 118:24
Pause and let this truth settle in your heart: Today—not tomorrow, not the next milestone—is God’s gift to you. Every moment carries divine purpose. Rejoicing in the present is an act of trust, a declaration that God is working in the process, not just the outcome.
Reflect on how God is shaping you through the ordinary moments of your life. Where is He inviting you to slow down, notice, and rejoice?
Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of today.
Teach me to embrace the journey and not rush through the moments You have designed to shape me.
Help me find joy in the process, peace in the waiting, and gratitude in the ordinary.
Open my eyes to see Your hand in every step, and give me a heart that rejoices in the present.
May my life reflect trust in Your timing and confidence in Your purpose.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
